Jimmy "Jim" Foster Clements

Jimmy “Jim” Foster Clements, age 79, of Scottsboro, Alabama, passed away on December 15, 2012 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Scottsboro Funeral Home at 11:00am with Rev. Charles McKay officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Jim Clements was born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 16, 1933 to parents – John & Annette Clements. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Gay Ray Clements, who passed away in November 2002. Jim and Gay were the proud parents of twin sons John and Thomas, who were born on May 3, 1977. Jim Clements was well known in Scottsboro as the owner of Clements Jewelry, a Scottsboro landmark. His leadership skills and talent in business was instrumental in the development of the Scottsboro business community. His entrepreneurial spirit lives on in his sons John & Thomas, who are the owners of C&C Asphalt, Inc., a thriving Scottsboro company. Jim Clements attended church at Limrock United Methodist Church. Jim and Gay were devoted parents to sons John and Thomas. He was named “Father of the Year” the year his sons were born. Jim and his wife Gay spent many years enjoying their home and traveling the world with their family. An obituary cannot encompass the richness of Jim Clements’ life and the love he gave to his family and friends. His selfness, generosity and love for his family engendered a spirit of caring that will live on in his surviving friends and relatives. His strength and compassion, combined with his insightful wit, touched countless lives in a positive way. All who knew Jim Clements will miss him greatly. Jim Clements is survived by sons – John Foster Clements and wife Vanessa York Clements of Scottsboro; Thomas Ray Clements and his wife Amanda Atkins Clements and their son Tommy Myles Clements of Scottsboro; brother – Ed Shea of Birmingham; numerous brother & sister in laws and nieces and nephews. Mr. Clements was preceded in death by wife – Gay Hope Ray Clements and many special friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Scottsboro Funeral Home from 3:00pm-8:00pm.
