Mrs. Margaret "Peggy" Blankenship

Margaret (Peggy) Blankenship went peacefully home to her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her loving family, on April 16, 2024. Peggy was born on July 31, 1930, in Huntington, WV to Jerry and Gertrude McKinney. Prior to Scottsboro, Ray and Peggy made their home in Henagar, AL. Throughout Ray’s career with the telephone company, they moved frequently and as members of local churches, allowed them to minister to others by helping to start Christian schools, churches, and spreading God’s Word through living faithful lives devoted to Christ and each other. They were blessed with 75 years of marriage. Taking early retirement, the couple motor-homed the United States and flew to Hawaii. They continued to share the Gospel and enjoy God’s handiwork while making memories and life-long friends. Peggy did not know the meaning of idle hands. When she became home bound, she continued her work for the Lord by using her savvy computer knowledge and her trusty iPhone. Up until two weeks of her going to her Heavenly home, she was enjoying crafting, gardening, jig saw puzzles, and being a gracious hostess to all entering her home. She doted upon her little dog, Grayce, who was always by her side. She loved her family fiercely and prayed for them daily. If you had the opportunity to meet Peggy, you were her friend forever and you loved her as she loved you. The needs of others always came before her own. Peggy is preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Chad Blankenship. She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Ray Blankenship and three sons, Ricky Alan (Nancy), Rodney Bruce (Pat) and Randy Ray (Lisa); grandchildren, Keith Blankenship (Hope), Jennifer Blankenship and her mother, Becky Hawkins, whom Peggy loved, Pam Jarrett (Jeff), Celesta Garcia (Michael), Kristi Strait (Nathan), and Stephen Blankenship (Bethany). She was blessed with 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was known as Mamaw, Grandmother, and Mamother to her grandchildren and they all loved her tremendously. The last message Peggy would want to leave with you is “Honey, do you know Jesus loves you and I pray that, if you haven’t, you accept him as your Lord and Savior!” Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Harvey and Rev. Briggs King officiating. Burial will follow in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements Entrusted to Scottsboro Funeral Home
