Patsy Hall Cobb

Patsy Ruth Hall Cobb was born August 1, 1937 and passed away surrounded by her family on February 5, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Darwin Cobb and her parents John Wayne Hall and Nina Butler Hall. Mrs. Cobb is survived by: her children Patricia Cobb Stewart, husband James Gary Stewart; Dr. Thomas Hudson Cobb and wife Susan Hartness Cobb; her sister Dr. Linda Hall Trucks of Birmingham, Alabama, and sister-in-law Sue Cobb Stewart of Bridgeport, Alabama; grandchildren Nina Kate Stewart, Emaline Ruth Stewart, Thomas William Stewart of Scottsboro and Thomas Butler Cobb and Hudson Hartness Cobb of Madison, Mississippi. Also surviving are her uncle, Myron Franklin Gardner Jr. and wife, Billie Alston Gardner; nephews: Robert Warren Trucks, Jr. of Long Island City, NY, Kenneth Wayne Trucks of Mountain Brook, AL, David Larry Cobb, Kenneth Blaine Stewart of Tennessee and Howard Brian Stewart of Bridgeport, AL; nieces: Elizabeth Trucks Shea of Mountain Brook, AL, Pamela Stewart White, Elaine Cobb Walls and Donna Cobb Garrett ; cousins: Virginia Gardner Webb, Myron Franklin Gardner, Jr. and their families; her caregivers: Debbie West, Denise Wooten, and Amy Venable. Mrs. Cobb was known and loved by many in the community as “Pitty Pat” and was also known for her love of playing bridge and everything Auburn. She was a graduate of Jackson County High School, Auburn University, and Alabama A&M. While at Auburn she was a member and President of Delta Zeta Sorority. Mrs. Cobb was a retired teacher and counselor at Scottsboro High School. She was also a faithful member of First United Methodist Church where she was an active member of her Sunday school class, a former Sunday school teacher and youth counselor. She served many years on the Board of Directors of Goosepond Colony where she was instrumental in the development of the cabin area and its becoming a resort area. She was also a sustainer of the Scottsboro Woman’s League. Services for Mrs. Cobb will be Sunday, February 9 at First United Methodist Church in Scottsboro with visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 with service starting at 3:00. Dr. Steven Screws and Rev. Rick Owen will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First United Methodist Church of Scottsboro, AL.
